Glen & Pat Gilzean are my parents; they instilled in me the ideology to follow my heart and to be passionate about it. Their love and guidance helped me form the foundation for my beliefs in education. I cannot thank them enough.
As a graduate of the University of South Florida, I received my bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences and a master’s degree in business/entrepreneurship. My calling is for education, student achievement excels when you create the best possible learning environment.
My experience working with local, state, and national education stakeholders grants me the unique ability to bring everyone together for the most important element—making sure we teach each student, one child at a time.
As the regional field director for the Florida Department of Education, I was the liaison for 16 counties, teachers, principals, superintendents, and Florida’s Education Commissioner. I’ve also been active as a member of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, the Florida Attorney General’s Gang Reduction Task Force, Cornerstone Family Ministries and the Florida Afterschool Network.
In 2008, I founded the non-profit organization, Educate Today Inc. It helps provide hope, by working to improve educational outcomes for students with social economic challenges.
In the short time of being a Pinellas County School Board Member from District 7, I’ve laid out my plans to address many of the complex situations facing our students—school safety, improving student achievement, and proving obtainable parental choices in education.
My name is Glen Gilzean, and I am running for the Pinellas County School Board District 7 seat because I believe together, we can make a difference in the lives of your children and I have the experience to improve the quality of our schools.
I’m asking for your vote. Together we can make a difference in education.
On August 14, remember: GO WITH GLEN!
